This summer I've expanded my responsibility to wearing many hats for the writing project. It's hard to believe that only a year ago I sat here at the University Center as a participant only. Over the last year I've worked my way from participant, to Media Diva, to Public Relations coordinator, to Returning Scholar, Research Assistant, and Continuity Co-Director. Whew!!! What a journey!

Today our morning began with a journal about our habits as writers. It was interesting to see what other idiosyncricies that we all have when it comes to our writing capabilities.

Dawn delved us straight ahead into character development. The music that she shared reminded me so much of New York City that I had to write about it. I guess since I've been to the city and have recently watched Sex and the City, I had NYC on my mind. There were lots of writing opportunities that I did not take advantage of and now would like to go back and do so.

The mentor session went well. My group seems to be on target for the most part. I've found it a little challenging to know what I am supposed to say to help them fine tune their demos when I often find myself in the same predicament. I'm in the middle of working on my demo and I'm working through the same glitches. I think for the most part, everything is working well though.

I'm excited to be working on my writing now. I've started the NWP press release for the SI and my goal is to have it complete by the end of the week so I can send it off to the papers. I would also like to find time to rewrite my story for Publish America this summer so I can get it sent off with illustrations. Between all of this, I am finishing up my graduate work - only 3 more classes. This summer will be spent on analyzing data for my research project which is a bit overwhelming when I think about it, but has to be done. I also have a trip to Denver next week and 3 Summer Academy workshops.

I think at the end of the summer I will need a serious vacation.
