I made a commitment to myself this summer that I would create an exercise habit - one that would be easy to stick with when life got busy, one that wasn't dependent on the weather.
As much as I want to be a runner, I'm not. I can aspire to run a 5K, but when it is 90 degrees, the last thing I want to do is hoof it on the pavement and sweat. If I was completely honest on this blog, I would admit to wanting to sit in my chair in an air conditioned room watching day time television and eating chocolate. I can dream right?!
I tried P90X last year and was tremendously successful, but then life got in the way, a new job made my time scarce, and exercise was put on the back burner. After working from 6:30-6:30, the last thing I wanted to do was come home and exercise and then cook and then do all of my school work. Time was a valuable commodity to me, even if I did spend it watching television or sleeping. P90X took at least an hour - an hour I didn't and still don't have.
I committed to a habit for the summer. In the summer I have time. If I have to stay up until 2 AM to complete exercise, I can do that. Well, sort of. I am working full time this summer, but I still have a leisurely pace to dedicate myself to fitness.
So, I returned to an old friend. One that I hung out with a few years ago and lost about 15 pounds with in a summer. If you haven't met her, you should.
I love Jilian, but I hate her too! This workout kicks my tail every single time I do it, regardless of how many days I've been at it. The beauty in this workout, is the simple fact that is 20 minutes! Did you hear me? 20 minutes! If I can't find time for that, then I have a HUGE problem!!! This video has 3 different levels. Start at level 1 and progress to level 3 at your own pace. The exercises are old school - squats, lunges, push-ups, etc. but effective. I mean, really works. We all did these exercises in PE classes for years and were able to maintain our weights. They still work 20 years later.

I've been at it for a little over a week and can tell a huge difference. Tonight was the first night that I made it through the whole Level 1 section without stopping. Well, honesty, right - I had to skip the side lunges because of my knee, but I did everything else. My goal, at least 4 days a week. I think it's doable.
Are there any other 30 Day Shredders out there???
